How I approach it

The honest version

Most analytics problems are setup problems: duplicate tags, missing events, conversions counted twice. I fix the foundation first so every report after it can be trusted.

Heatmaps and recordings answer the "why" behind the numbers. Ten recordings of people abandoning a form usually explain more than a month of charts.

Tools I use

  • GA4
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Looker Studio
  • Microsoft Clarity
  • Hotjar
  • Google Search Console

Good questions

Analytics & Tracking FAQs.

Which heatmap tool should I use?

Microsoft Clarity is free and covers heatmaps and recordings for most small businesses. Hotjar adds surveys and deeper analysis.

Can you track phone calls?

Yes, through call tracking numbers or click-to-call events, depending on your budget and how much detail you need.

Are session recordings privacy-compliant?

They can be. Recordings should mask form inputs and sensitive text, and be disclosed in your privacy policy and consent banner.
