SEO

Ecommerce SEO for stores that want sales, not just traffic

Category pages that rank for buying searches, product pages that convert, and a technical setup that doesn't drown Google in duplicate URLs.

What's included

What Ecommerce SEO covers.

Scoped to your site and goals. Not every engagement needs every item, and the audit tells us which ones matter most.

01

Category strategy

Keyword-led categories and collections with helpful copy, FAQs and internal links.

02

Product page optimisation

Unique descriptions, specs, reviews, and Product schema with price and availability.

03

Faceted navigation

Rules for filters, sorting and variants so crawl budget goes to pages that sell.

04

Merchant Center & feeds

Product feeds and markup that qualify you for free product listings and rich results.

05

Buying guides

Comparison and how-to-choose content that reaches shoppers earlier in their research.

06

Platform fixes

Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce quirks handled: duplicate collection URLs, heavy apps and thin tag pages.

How I approach it

The honest version

Ecommerce SEO is mostly category SEO. Category and collection pages target the searches with the most commercial intent (think "men's merino base layers"), so they get the most attention.

I measure success in organic revenue in GA4, not sessions. If traffic goes up and sales don't, the plan changes.

Tools I use

  • Google Merchant Center
  • GA4
  • Screaming Frog
  • Ahrefs
  • Shopify & WooCommerce admin

Good questions

Ecommerce SEO FAQs.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes, with a few known limits, like fixed /products/ and /collections/ URL prefixes and apps that add page weight. None of them stop a Shopify store from ranking well.

Should I write unique descriptions for every product?

Prioritise. Write unique, useful descriptions for your best sellers and highest-margin products first, then make templated improvements across the long tail.

Can SEO replace my Google Ads spend?

Rarely entirely, but it can reduce your dependence. Many stores use organic search to win core categories and keep ads for launches and seasonal pushes.
